Google for Jobs Implementation Still a Mystery

Speculation is rampant about Google launching paid job ads sometime early next year…the big question for me has always been is how exactly do they plan on rolling this out to publishers?

Free Recruiting Software Tools

free recruiting software tools

Three years ago I began researching free recruiting software tools. I even did a webinar on it. Since then, that list has drastically changed. Most of the 20+ tools I found at that time are no longer in existence.

But a few remain.

So lets update the recruiting audience on who’s left. Here’s my top seven free recruiting software tools. Not included are any tools that have a “free trial”.

  1. Google for Jobs: Google brings together job postings from across the web, whether they're on websites run by small businesses or job sites with thousands of listings. This helps job seekers easily find their next job directly in Search. Employers can make sure their jobs appear by visiting this page for inclusion.

  2. SmartRecruiters SmartStart: An ATS for employers hiring for less than 10 roles at any given time. SmartStart is a FREE version of SmartRecruiters, is designed specifically for teams and smaller organizations that are not suitable for a paid platform. Learn more. Features include;

    • One click job distribution to Google, Indeed, Linkedin and any of the 200+ job boards available. Share jobs on social media with the push of a button. SmartStart makes it easy for you to get your jobs in front of the right talent quickly.

    • Give candidates a great experience by creating your own branded career site or using our job widget on your company site to list all open jobs. You can also share videos, testimonials and more with potential candidates to get them excited about working for you.

  3. Pitchnhire: Pitch N Hire is a FREE AI-based Applicant Tracking System (ATS) designed to assist you in developing a real-time recruitment strategy, hiring the right candidates, and revolutionizing your end-to-end hiring process. Pitch N Hire’s latest release includes features that will enable you to track candidates, manage job applications and allows you to host and manage your own career page.

  4. Mighty Recruiter: This ATS is a “cutting edge, intuitive recruiting solution” that helps you recruit for free. It’s been around for 20 years now. You can post to job boards, source passive candidates, manage applicants and hire the most relevant candidates to your jobs — at no cost to you. Features include job distribution, career sites, candidate management, reporting & analytics. Learn more.

  5. OpenCats: This is an open source ATS platform built on PHP (same language as wordpress) that you can download and install on your own web server. Some features will require customisation after installation - for example full-text resume search and ACL role setup can be amended after the fact, but the initial installation delivers the base functionality. Learn more.

  6. Recruitem: This is one of my favorite recruiting tools ever. Its a sourcing tool that helps you create boolean strings with ease and allows you to search via Google. You can “X-ray” people on sites such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Github, Dribble and more. It has remained a free recruiting tool ever since it launched several years back. See it.

  7. Hunter.io: Hunter lets you find professional email addresses in seconds and connect with the people that matter for your business. Users simply enter a domain or company name to launch the search. It can also verify that the email address is real. The platform offers outreach features as well. Free accounts are allowed 25 monthly searches. Learn more.

The tools on this list are generally always free. If you know of any other free recruiting tools (not free trial ones) that offer good value to employers let me know with a comment.
